Sweet 16 Party Planning Ideas and Tips: Taking A Sweet Sixteen Party to the Next Level in Boston, Massachusetts
Thanks to the MTV® show My Super Sweet 16, the world of fantasy and real-deal party atmosphere for young ladies turning sixteen years old has been turned on its head here in the Greater Boston area and across New England for that matter. The days of small, stale, boring Sweet Sixteen parties are long gone. These lovely yet outdated celebrations been replaced by ultra-exciting parties for the new 16 year old and her friends.
Inspired by the parties of young celebrities and the pampered children of extremely wealthy families, today's teens are looking to push the envelope and create an authentic, high-energy party environment for their guests.

Sweet 16 Party Themes
Themes can take and often do take shape based on the personality and favorites of the guest of honor and/or her friends. Sweet 16 parties can have the party theme of practically anything: Alice in Wonderland; under the ocean; Las Vegas nightlife; wild animals/the jungle; Jersey Shore; classic or new-age Hollywood; a Royal Affair. The list really goes on and on, as far as the birthday girl's imagination can take her.
Party planners will take the theme into consideration when determining everything else for the Sweet Sixteen celebration including, exterior and interior wall decorations, centerpieces, thank you gifts/prizes, and food and drink menu. Would you consider bringing in a cotton candy or pop corn machine, or having live fish swim around in your centerpieces? Think outside of the box!
Sweet Sixteen Party Entertainment
Finding current, quality entertainment is going to be the key piece of your sweet 16 party planning process. Although some party budgets have allowance for a full live band to play cover songs of top 40 favorites, most parties will bring in a high energy, professional party DJ. Look for someone with promotional party photos, videos, and testimonials. The ideal DJ will be on the younger side (under 35 years old) with a great handle on and collection of the latest in (depending on the crowd) rap, hip hop, top 40 pop, reggaeton, reggae, soca, and other music including Latin styles like salsa, merengue, and bachata, and techno and house music as well. If you like to get the best of several musical worlds at the same time, ask your performer if he or she is familiar with mashups (and if he or she isn't, you may want to consider looking elsewhere).
Of course, your perfomer (or lighting company, if you choose to go that route) should supply some stunning multi-colored, sound-reactive (a.k.a intelligent) dance floor lights. Again, if you get more involved and your budget allows to consider more complete theatrical lighting setups for your room, it is a great idea and makes for some amazing photos and memories. Then, last but not least, you can consider adding a show to the party such as a professional magician, juggler, neon hula hoop twirler, etc. A lot of Sweet 16 party planning taking place in Boston nowadays considers adding a photo booth option to the party, so the special girl and her friends can make and take added memories home with them. Some people will add karaoke services to the party; others take the route of adding a video option, be it a flat panel television monitor or large projection screen, on which the they run a recurring slide show or video of the guest of honor and her friends and family throughout the party, display large and colorful dance graphics, or even transmit a live video feed of the guests on the dance floor onto the screen.
